Lake Como

Lago visto dall'altoEnjoy Lake Como

When in Como, a tour of the Lake is a must, preferably by boat, in order to see beautiful villas not visible from the street.

All villages around Lake Como are accessible via boat or bus.
A unique experience to get to know the lake, starting from Como and moving north towards the mountains, all the way to Bellagio and even further up to the top of the lake in Colico.
Lake Como, also called "il Lario", is about 46 kilometers long with a maximum depth of 400 meters. Characteristic Y-shaped Lario is well recognizable from the sky. Visiting the lake with a seaplane is indeed a unique and amazing experience too.
Lario is famous around the world for its luxury villas and gardens. In spring, neoclassical Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo offers its visitors a mangnificent spectacle of rhododendros and azaleas. Villa Serbelloni in Bellagio, "the pearl of lake", is the place to breathe history, art and culture of a glorious past when Leonardo da Vinci, poet Giuseppe Parini and Queen Victoria used to spend their time here.
Villa Balbianello, situated on Lenno's promontory, offers a beautiful garden and loggia with a spectacular view over the lake. In front of Ossuccio we find the only Lario's island, Isola Comacina, with its old traditions and flavours, its Romanesque church (Santa Maria Maddalena) with a Gothic bell tower and rationalist "artists houses".  One international attraction for those who love walking is the GREENWAY of Lake Como, see the official website for info and details.

In the summer time the lake is also a place to swim and play watersports, check out the public and private Lidos for a dive in the blue waters!

Como and its lake are also considered a “must-see” by  cinephiles who can visit here Star Wars, Ocean’s Twelve e Casino Royale’s locations.
