This is a rare event, which has been waiting to happen for years; a creation by Carolyn Carlson at the Teatro Sociale of Como, an esthete of dance, a poet, she is the one who, in a recent interview, ("Sipario" 2018) said: "I think it is fundamental that everyone can touch the beauty of dance in their own way, into the joy of moving simply to the rhythms of their own heart beating and in the miracle of the Being.”

Carolyn Carlson represents the essence of contemporary dance, not only on a technical level, but also for the pathos, the emotive involvement and the reciprocal relationship asked of the viewer, We are what we leave behind, and the link between poetry and dance is the lowest common denominator that links each of her creations: on Thursday 7th November at 8.30 pm, the Teatro Sociale opens its doors to the 2019/20 dance season with the long awaited debut of Carolyn Carlson on the stage of the city of Como, with “Crossroads to Synchronicity”: an intimate and introspective journey to explore the strange coincidences happening in the course of life and that resound like beats in the memory: from the arrival of an unexpected person, the hunger for love and relationships, decisive and sudden twists, which change the sequence of events, the synchronicity of what happens and the fulfillment of a destiny, in the everyday simplicity of a gesture, in the greatness of a feeling.  

A key figure in contemporary dance, the choreographer re-interprets her 2012 creation, Crossroads to Synchronicity, inspired by Carl Jung, with six of her most loyal dancers.

In a sequence of video images, shot by the choreographer, immersed into a subjective and emotional perception, dancers dive into deep waters of danger, rebellion, love, human relationships ... The bodies of the six dancers cross with pathos, poetry and energy, those symbolic correspondences that transform the way of perceiving and observing life.
Such a poetic and dynamic show never ceases to surprise, move, confound, involve.
Carolyn Carlson, whose world fame is undisputed, creates a work of rare delicacy and depth, exploring the darker and brighter sides of the human soul. The American choreographer and dancer has been considered an icon for almost half a century, a source of inspiration for the experimentation and uniqueness of a person’s influence and of a way of creating that which distinguishes her on the international scene.
Her choreographies prove her intentional and conscious poetics.
