On Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September, as part of the Lake Como Design Fair the Como Province Order of Architects PPC (Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators) is organising guided tours to monuments of rationalism in the city and is exceptionally opening to the public the permanent exhibition of postcards of the “Fisionomie Lariane” project at the Novocomum.   

These initiatives are meant to be a means of sharing objectives in the cultural dissemination of architecture and of the region in the interests of including a wide audience. The rationalist itinerary of the “Fisionomie Lariane” project, just like the permanent exhibition of postcards in the display case of the Novocomum, has been designed by a scientific committee and coordinated by specialists and is a tool for dialogue between architects and citizens, between experts and the community. The sense of belonging to a territory begins with knowledge. Explaining the complexity of the architecture, telling how it marked an era with its forms and through its authentic masterpieces, also means leading it back to its true collective nature.  

“Fisionomie Lariane” is a research on the territory of the Province of Como, an inventory of architecture and landscapes, authors’ photographs, a collection of drawings, a series of itineraries, a permanent exhibition, a web platform. “Fisionomie Lariane” is a project designed and curated by the Culture Commission of the Como Province Order of Architects PPC.

DISPLAY CASE
A permanent exhibition of photography in postcard format that allows viewers to build an overview of the territory. The Novocomum, headquarters of the Como Province Order of Architects PPC, becomes both reference and starting point for an in-depth investigation.
A display case of 90 postcard-size photographic portraits collects a selection of exemplary architecture, natural and artificial landscapes that link well-known places with those forgotten, distinctive locations with more anonymous ones.
"Fisionomie Lariane" is also a photographic archive of the Province of Como refined through the gazes of the eleven photographers involved in the project:
Marco Cappelletti, Stefano Graziani, Walter Mair, Planar, Sara Ruggeri, Isabelle Sassi Farìas, Giovanna Silva, Donatella Simonetti and Filippo Simonetti, Jacopo Valentini and Edoardo Valle.

This event will also serve as the occasion for distributing the project’s new publication: Water Traces Settlements Activities.
