St. Peter in Atrio hosts the personal exhibition of the artist Livornese Isabella Staino, organized in collaboration with the Council of Culture of Como.
The exhibition is divided into three sections: Lighea, the mystery of simple gestures and Isabella and the shadow.
The first part of the exhibition includes a group of recent works never exhibited on the "Lighea" theme, inspired by Giuseppe Tomasi of Lampedusa (1896 - 1957).
Emerging from luminescent darkness, from backdrops animated by fabulous creatures, women-siren call and call each other. The ancient Lighea, eternal adolescent, queen of the curls, shows itself in a night sea, with heavy waves, silent. Visionary works between mythology and dreams: as if each frame contained the depth of the sea, from which surface shapes and vivid colors emerge. "
The mystery of simple gestures is a pictorial cycle consisting of large-format canvas artwork and small paintings on paper. These paintings were exhibited in 2016 in Livorno in Villa Fabbricotti and on the island of Capraia at the Torre del Porto.
“Floors, textiles, tattoos, have similar arabesques, because man can not give up ancient beauty even in a world that denies it. The work of painting is a unique object that does not change, yet infinitely changeable. It is humble matter, it is labor of the hand, it is jealous creation and gift. The mystery of simple gestures is unraveled by art. Art in turn is revealed by those who look and recognize something of themselves, always and forever. "
Finally, “Isabella and the shadow” include works on small size on paper and original tables of the illustrations of the book "Isabella and the Shadow" by Antonio Tabucchi, written specifically for Isabella Staino in 2003. The story was illustrated by Isabella in 2013 and published in the same year by Vittoria Iguazu Editora.
"There was once a little girl named Isabella. And this Isabella thought in colors. "
Isabella Staino was born in 1977 in Florence. She lives and works in Livorno.
