Banca Generali Private renews its support for art by presenting the solo exhibition called 'Resilienza' (Resilience) by Christian Balzano (Livorno, 1969). It will be hosted in the new headquarters of the banker and wealth manager in Lungo Lario Trento 9 in Como, from 14 May to 27 September 2019.

The exhibition showcases over sixty works including sculptures, drawings, engravings and paintings by the artist from Livorno, among the most appreciated of the contemporary Italian scene. 'Resilienza', curated by Marco Bazzini, describes the artistic path of Balzano, focused on an in-depth reflection on the human being immersed in the present. The title of the exhibition refers to the ability to react and to move forward even stronger without letting yourself be discouraged by difficulties and adversities of destiny. Art is one of the most ancient forms of resilience, due to its ability to evoke new strategies and new rituals.

Christian Balzano is one of the most important Italian artists of the new millennium.

His work refers frequently to a small group of subjects where the figure of the bull in particular emerges, in addition to the silhouette of chandeliers, typical religious icons of ex-votos and geographical maps.

An imaginary world that the artist uses as a resource to reflect on the many open issues of our time.

The bull, a primordial and mythical figure, is the main character of this exhibition entitled 'Resilienza', that is the ability to respond with a positive attitude to life's difficulties.

In Balzano's works, the myth of the bull is replaced by the modern world and, therefore, it assumes new meanings.

The artist takes from the bull its fragility and vulnerability, not just the strength and instinct. It is the expression of empathy and adaptability, of the ability to react without letting yourself be discouraged by difficulties, as shown by the great bronze sculpture 'Io siamo resilienza' (I are resilience', created for the occasion.
