In the Campo Quadro space, the initiative called “l’arte svelata” (the unveiled art) continues: works from the Pinacoteca’s collection. In this occasion, three works dedicated to the lost places of our city will be showcased: The port of Como by Giuseppe Bisi; Como, remains of Pretorio Palace by Virginia Comerio Longoni and View of the City of Como, anonymous painter, accessible from Sunday, 14 July 2019.

These three works on show represent places that have characterized our city: Giuseppe Bisi's watercolor painting depicts the Lario shore where some Comballi, traditional boats of the lake, are moored, offering an insight into the daily life of the port around the middle of the Nineteenth century; the work of Virginia Comerio Longoni represents the remains of the ancient Pretorio Palace - after which the current street is named - which extended over the surface between the Duomo and the church of San Giacomo; the picture Views of the city of Como shows a detailed description of the city from the west side; in the foreground stand the convent and the church of San Giovanni in Pedemonte, then the city buildings and the shores of the lake.

The paintings will be accessible to visitors from July 14th to 28th in the Campo Quadro space, a treasure specially created to reveal, discover and contemplate new and exclusive masterpieces of art.

The exhibition programme The unveiled art: works from the Pinacoteca’s collection intends to showcase the museum artistic heritage, which are usually hidden, in scheduled periods of the year related to important events, seasonality, anniversaries; a gradual opportunity for intervention and preservation also for those works of art that are not on display and a precious opportunity for visitors to enjoy them.

As part of the exhibition taking place in Campo Quadro, there is the ongoing exhibition of Mario Radice. The painter and architects in the Pinacoteca until November 24^th and a picture of the Como initiative. Views and visions of a city and its lake, Sunday, July 28^th, the Association ‘Sentiero dei Sogni’ promotes the creative walk named Radice, Terragni and the lost landscapes.
