Lake Como Design Fair
After the success of its first edition, Lake Como Design Fair will return from September 20 to 22, 2019, now embracing two venues. A curated design selection will be presented at the Teatro Sociale Como and a new section – entirely dedicated to architecture – will be held at the Palazzo del Broletto. This year the focus is on colour. On the one hand Design 120 carefully selected design objects will punctuate the Ridotto's room of the Teatro Sociale di Como creating a polychrome and playful environment. From industrial design to unique artifacts, new projects made specifically for the fair, projects already known, contaminations and examples of emerging production will be visible at the fair. Two installations will surprise the visitors: Insieme ordinato di aste, a 13-meter multifunctional object by the Como-based architect Marco Balzarotti, and the polychrome fabric designed by textile artist and designer Karol Pichler, made from recycled materials.

Rationalist tour of the City
On Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September, as part of the Lake Como Design Fair the Como Province Order of Architects PPC (Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators) is organising guided tours to monuments of rationalism in the city and is exceptionally opening to the public the permanent exhibition of postcards of the “Fisionomie Lariane” project at the Novocomum. These initiatives are meant to be a means of sharing objectives in the cultural dissemination of architecture and of the region in the interests of including a wide audience. The rationalist itinerary of the “Fisionomie Lariane” project, just like the permanent exhibition of postcards in the display case of the Novocomum, has been designed by a scientific committee and coordinated by specialists and is a tool for dialogue between architects and citizens, between experts and the community. The sense of belonging to a territory begins with knowledge. Explaining the complexity of the architecture, telling how it marked

Christian Leotta on the piano - Recital I
A rare opportunity offered by the pianist Christian Leotta, who in four evenings – 1st October, 3rd November, 9th December, 13th January – will give a full performance of the 11 “completed” Piano Sonatas by Franz Schubert at the Teatro Sociale of Como, two hundred years after their composition. A rarity especially because – due to their complexity and the, not only technical, commitment that they require – Schubert’s Sonatas are not often addressed by pianists as a complete corpus, and their performance is almost always reserved to a limited number of them. After all, Leotta is not new to exceptional musical endeavours, having performed the complete cycle of the 32 Beethoven Sonatas twenty-one times around the world. With the Schubertian cycle scheduled at the Teatro Sociale of Como, Leotta will also become the first Italian pianist to have a repertoire of and to perform both the cycle of Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas and that of Schubert’s Piano Sonatas in concert.
