The Castle is located in a significant strategic point. From the top of the Tower you can enjoy a truly breathtaking view: from Switzerland to Milan, from Monte Rosa to Resegone. A unique 360 degree view of the lake, the Alps and the entire Po Plain. Inside the Museum, the guides will take the visitor on a voyage through time, from the origins of Como to the present day. The evening excursion is subject to a minimum number of participants: it starts from Piazza Camerlata and includes also a visit to the Quarry of Camerlata. Booking is required.   • Margaret Atwood wins the Raymond Chandler Award
    The Canadian writer Margaret Atwood is this year's winner of the Raymond Chandler Award, the literary award annually bestowed on noir fiction by a master of this genre. The Canadian writer will be handed the award on Thursday, December 7th at 9 p.m. at the Teatro Sociale in Como. Noir in Festival, Italy’s most important showcase devoted to the noir genre in film and literature, is now in its 27th Edition and will be held in Milan and Como from December 4th-10th, 2017. This year it assigns its most-coveted literary prize, the Raymond Chandler Award for Lifetime Achievement, to a novelist who embodies the finest features of so-called genre fiction, be it noir or science fiction, fantasy or a revisiting of the "darkest" of fairy tales, transcending them all to create an all-embracing, noble conception of literature.   • New Website for the Paths of Italy
    The new portal, in Italian and in English, camminiditalia.it has been presented on November 4th 2017. It is the first official mapping of the "cammini d'Italia" - "Paths of Italy", it currently contains 40 paths all over Italy. camminiditalia.it is a tool for travelers and tourists, a true infrastructure of green roads where you can choose to move along Italy on foot, by bicycle, on horseback or by other forms of sustainable mobility, promoting a new touristic dimension. The project had been developed by MiBACT, the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism. The list of paths is in evolution, since all the trails that respect the selection criteria can become part of this Atlas. The current list includes 41 trails all around Italy. The Atlas of paths of Italy aims at developing a more sustainable type of tourism that gives value to local landscapes and agricultural realities, allowing travellers and local realities to coexist and benefit from one another.
  • Como city and Wiki Loves Monuments Italia 2017
    Wiki Loves Monuments is an international photographic competition to promote historic sites around the World through Wikimedia projects (mainly Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons). Everybody can participate. There are a lot of historic monuments in all participating countries. The goal of Wiki Loves Monuments is to encourage people to take pictures of those monuments, and to put them under a free licence so that others may access them through the Internet. To achieve that, an international contest will take place in September 2017. The City of Como has included many monuments to this competition and it is participatin to the competition for the second year. In September, you may upload as many pictures as you want of monuments that you have visited. Pictures don't have to be taken in September, but must be uploaded this month to be considered. At the end of the month, the contest jury will begin evaluating the photographs and will choose the best 10 pictures of the monuments in Italy,

The winners will be the protagonists of the International Poetry Festival Europa in Versi. The absolute winners of each section will receive € 500,00.     CALL FOR ARTISTS 30th MINIARTEXTIL COMO The ARTE&ARTE Cultural Association is organising the 30th edition of the MINIARTEXTIL International Fibre Art Exhibition. The exhibition will be inaugurated in Como on Saturday, 26th September until Sunday, 22nd November 2020. The international tour will follow in 2021, starting from the Montrouge Paris exhibition venue and continuing to other destinations. The exhibition venues will include the Antonio Ratti cultural space – the former Church of San Francesco, the former Church of San Pietro in Atrio, the Pinacoteca Civica, the Palazzo del Broletto and the Silk Museum. All exhibition venues are located within Como city centre. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS This call is open to artists and designers who wish to enter a work of fibre art made with textile techniques and/or materials.
