Teatro Sociale: a theatre to discover
The Teatro Sociale in Como opens its doors to the city, to citizens and to tourists who visit our city during this summer. How does the Royal seat look like? Why is that room called "Pasta"? What's upstage? And under the stage? Visitors will be accompanied to visit the halls, the "behind the scenes" and the mysterious places of the theater, usually inaccessible to viewers. The visit takes about one hour and includes a guided tour of the Foyer, the Pasta Room, the Main Hall, stage orders, galleries, the Painters' Hall, and then it will take you to the stage, dressing room, tailoring, Canonica, underpass and Arena. Visits are in Italian and English. It will be an unforgettable opportunity that will allow citizensa and visitors to feel closer to the beautiful Theatre. Lake Como is a land of wonderful landscapes and history, but also the place where the adventures of smugglers, brigands and soldiers have been consumed. In this frontier land between Italy and Switzerland, the mountains just around the city Como were excavated to accommodate trenches, fortresses and hiding places. The woods have been inhabited by soldiers and the trails were crossed from one side of the border to the other by men with huge shoulder bags, often escaping from the guards of both countries. The Tour will guide you for a few hours (up to 5 hours) in the Spina Verde park, a nice green area of Como, where you can enjoy the natural beauty of the park, beautiful views of the city and the lake and learn very particular aspects of the local history. Como Lake Burlesque Festival
The third weekend of September Como will be transformed: a vintage atmosphere will take hold of the city, with irony, glamor and seduction, hosting the fourth edition of an international burlesque festival. The FEstival will start on Thursday night with the "Great Opening Party" with the animation of the girls at the Champagne Academy of Burlesque Education and the opening show with performances of international performers, during the evening there will be surf music and rock'n roll with the Dj Boogie Rose. On Saturday, performers from all over the world will compete for the fabulous Grace Gotham and win the title of "Reginetta del Lago": the competition will take place on September 16th at Gloria Space where, on the same night, we will host the "Vintage Party" swing and electroswing. Let's green up
Green conversations at the Villa. "Let's green up" is a series of open meetings where participants can mingle with green entrepreneurs and discuss environmental issues and projects. The events will be held by Entrepreneurs who have chosen Lake Como to develop their green projects. During the open discussions the conversation will be held in English and Italian to allow everyone to be included in the talks. On September 10th the main guest is Cristina Rovelli, the first Italian "wildlife officer" woman, who has fought many Environmental battles. You can bring your kids too, since at the same time there will be an English Creative Lab for kids (age 6 to 11). Medieval historical parade
Parade in Medieval Costumes as part of the Palio del Baradello event. The Parade starts at 3pm at the Ippocastano and ends in Piazza Cavour, after the proclamation of the Winner at 5pm. Emperor Frederick and Empress Beatrice, followed by Nobles and Ladies, will enter the city by Porta Torre, preceded by two young amazons on horseback by two imposing hounds, a black one and a white one, symbolizing the Empire and the City. Knights, Militias, Armies and Guards will escort them through the city streets; followed by the War Machines and the Carroccio. At the end of the parade there will be the Borghesi and the common people. The Grand Historic Court will be enriched by numerous public medieval groups, including musicaians, jugglers, "sbandieratori". 5pm Piazza Cavour Spectacular final show of all the groups that participated in the parade, At the end, the Palio will be assigned, and there will be the proclamation of the Palio 2017 winner and the delivery of the drapery.
