For the first time in Como, the Comin 'Jazz, a jazz music festival, will involve the whole city from 9 to 15 March with a rich program of events, concerts, marching bands and initiatives dedicated to schools, inspiring enthusiasts and novices.   

“The Department of Culture of the Municipality of Como, in collaboration with the Teatro Sociale, Nerolidio Music Factory, Nota su Nota, Music For Green and Jazz Club of Como, has created the event called “Comin 'Jazz” in order to revive the musical vocation of the city, to promote local talents and bring in Como musicians of international renown, into a dynamic and creative environment such as a festival" said the Councillor Luigi Cavadini.

The city also has a solid jazz tradition. In fact, big internationally renowned artists have performed in squares and theaters already in the eighties and nineties. In the following years, many musicians of this area have trained and specialized in this specific genre, thanks to the professionalism of the Como Conservatory and music schools.

Today's first edition of the Festival, coincides with the centenary of the publication of the first jazz record, Livery Stable Blues of the Original Dixieland Jass Band, of Nick La Rocca, son of an Italian immigrant in Louisiana. This date symbolizes the birth of jazz, musical genre that already could be heard a few years earlier in African-American neighbourhood of New Orleans.

Comin 'Jazz was developed thanks to the partnership of the Festival di Cultura e Musica Jazz di Chiasso which will take place from March 16th to 18th 2017, and this year it will celebrate its twenty years of birth.
