A story, first and foremost a story that, like the ancient myths, is timeless and yet full of current events. It touches on feelings and characters that are near and concurrent to us but in a reality which is that countryside somehow outside of time and then suddenly immersed in the present day. A fairy tale that, like all fairy tales, is cruel, but not cynical. One actor, many characters, a language that invents a dialect. Tiziano Scarpa tells this tragicomic and melancholic story, at times flavored by the bitterness of Scatorchio who, to spite his romantic rival, helps the mayor transform the country into a landfill, only to then lose his country and love, beginning at this point, just as in the veritable journey of a hero, the epic of an antihero. The beauty of the losers, as Leonard Cohen characterised it, a story full of defeats and loneliness, ridiculous and cruel, bittersweet like our life.
