Novocomum

Rationalist building by Terragni (1927-1929)

Built between 1927 and 1929, Novocomum is one of the most beautiful examples of rationalism in Como. It is also known as “Transatlantico” for its shape that looks like an ocean liner. It is considered one of the highest and first expressions of Terragni’s art who was able to synthetize here all rationalism theories, born and developed in Como. Novocomum is a 5-floor building with rooftop. Rationalist curves and lines give the place an unusual light that penetrates through large windows connecting the building to the lake and the surrounding.
